Background
Cranbrook Flavours was established in July 1984 in a small factory in the Market Cold Storage Building in Newton Johannesburg by Peter Johnstone and his son Michael. They started with blending two basic savoury snack food flavours with a 75kg blender. With Peter's 12 year experience behind him they expanded quickly. They moved to bigger premises in Beit Street, Doornfontein for 4 years and from there to Denver for another 5 years. Peter's other son also saw the opportunity in the fast expanding industry and joined to streamline the manufacturing and distribution side of Cranbrook Flavours. Spartan held good investment opportunities for the three partners where they decided to buy property. On the 1st of September 1995 they moved into their newly built factory and warehouse which gave them the pride and motivation to grow and invest on the future of their company. This growth and investments resulted in the acquisition of some flagship accounts. In 1995 Peter decided to step down and leave the company in the hands of his capable and enthusiastic sons Andrew and Michael. In October 2005, Cranbrook Flavours moved into a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. |
